Hi Everyone,

As you know, the Big Ten IT Accessibility Interest Group Workshop is
this Monday and Tuesday in Columbus, and on Tuesday we're going to
have a teleconference and meeting of the D2L Consortium.

The time will be 9:30 to 10 AM Eastern Time, Tuesday, June 20. I am
still arranging the call in number and will get it out to you
tomorrow.

If I'm getting the gist of past emails to this consortium group, Alan
Foley from Wisconsin, Deborah Proctor from Minnesota State, and
possibly Dawn Hunziker from Arizona will be calling in for the
teleconference. Joe Wheaton, Beck Andre, I, and possibly some folks
from U. of Iowa will be on the Columbus side.

We won't have a ton of time, so here is a short list of things we can bring up:

* we should begin by briefly introducing ourselves and give a capsule
overview of what is happening with D2L and accessibility at each
institution.
* what process do we want to follow for prioritizing and posting
issues and resolutions to the Consortium web site? what date should we
target for this? (would be nice before Guelph)
* how often should this Consortium meet? and what will be its purpose
or list of priorities?
* what is the best way of communicating (I'd say this mailing
list...)? Do we want to invite Kenneth Chapman from D2L to be on this
consortium and list or should we maintain some distance? (I'm not
talking about shutting them out, but we may not want D2L directly
influencing how we present problems or their severity)
* questions about the UC06 Guelph panel

Earlier on I'd promised to give out OSU's D2L accessibility report and
issues matrix (we call D2L Carmen, here, by the way). Here is a link
to the web directory where that report and matrix are:

[URL removed for security]

The documents:
- Carmen_ReReview_0206.pdf (our report)
- Internal Accessibility Checklist from D2L.xls (D2L's own internal
accessibility list)
- OSU - Accessibility Report.xls (our internal D2L issues matrix)
- other files referenced in the Carmen ReReview

If you have time to look these over, that would be helpful for the
teleconference discussion. These materials are not for public
distribution and I will obscure the link in the d2l-consortium mailing
list archive. We have concentrated almost entirely on the
student-facing features but will be going over the admin and
instructor interfaces at some point (we may wait for the next (8.x)
release to do this, however).

The UC06 Guelph panel is at 8:30 AM on Tuesday, August 1 (ick, 8:30!).
Alan Foley and Mark Felix from Arizona are going to be on it, along
with Beck, Kenneth Chapman from D2L, and me. If we have a couple of
minutes to spare, I'd like to get a consensus on what we want to
present at it.

Note to Beck: Can you get Alan added to the people listed for the panel?

Thanks for your time, everyone!

Rgrds,
ken
