[wac-announce] ATUG meeting tomorrow cancelled, reschedule options

Dear ATUG Membership,

I have heard back from a number of people on meeting times and enough
people have conflicts with tommorrow that it makes sense to
reschedule.

Proposed times alternate dates are:

Tuesday, October 10
Thursday, October 12
Thursday, October 19

We will schedule the meeting for lunch time.

The Enterprise Messaging Project, the group of committees which are in
the process of selecting the new campus-wide email, web mail, and
calendaring solution, has gotten back bids in response to its Request
for Proposal (RFP). There were something like 13 vendors who
responded. The committee members have a little over a week to make
recommendations on a first cut. The hope is that we will reduce the
number to between 3 to 5 finalists. Committee members fill out scoring
sheets and return them to the Core committee. The scoring has to be
completed and returned by Monday, October 16. The scoring review
meeting is planned for Wednesday, October 18.

Obviously, there is not time for a full review of the products, at
this point. (Full reviews and usability studies happen in
mid-November.) So my responses to the Core committee will have to be
based on very limited direct knowledge of the products and, of course,
what the vendor has specified in its bid. I would very much like an
opportunity to go over the bid candidates with the ATUG membership. So
a meeting next week is better than the following.
