[wac] Web Accessibility Center Winter 2008 workshops and registration

Hi All,

The Web Accessibility Center will be giving five workshops during the
last couple of weeks of February. As always, workshops are offered at
no charge to OSU faculty, staff and students. All workshops are four
hours long and conducted in the 009 computer lab in the basement of
Ramseyer Hall. Here's the line up with a link to registration, below:

* Wednesday, Feb. 20, 12:30 to 4:30,
  "PDF Best Practices,"
  Covers creation of accessible and highly usable PDF from Word
documents. We also look at the accessibility diagnostic tools in
Acrobat, retrofitting PDF forms for accessibility, and the form tools
in Acrobat and Live Cycle Designer. We will also look at and assess
the PDF "add-on" which Microsoft makes available for Word 2007.

* Friday, Feb. 22, 12:30 to 4:30,
  "Testing Web Pages for Universal Usability,"
  Covers use of free online, Firefox, and Internet Explorer
browser-based tools and general techniques that can help determine the
accessibility and usability of web pages to help guarantee compliance
with OSU Minimum Web Accessibility Standards policy and to improve the
user experience for all. We will also walk through basic usage of the
JAWS screen reader and look at the capabilities of Firevox, a free,
cross-platform screen reader for Firefox. We will discuss ARIA support
for web applications within screen readers, as well.

* Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, Feb. 27, 28, and 29 (times vary),
  "Dead-Simple" series on HTML and CSS web implementation,
  Our evolving series of workshops that cover hand-coding of web
pages. As with other workshops we offer, the focus is on universal
usability in content and design.
